Municipal list read. Ensemble 1579: manor house 22213, granary 22198, outbuilding 22199, ice house 22200 and park 22201.
Historic register listing the manor house, granary, outbuilding, ice house and park. A search excerpt was read; this is not a survey of their present condition.
History and park description, read in full. This account links the 1925 transfer to family relationships. Its building dates should be compared with other sources.
Popular history and architecture description read. Much of its park material repeats Žemaičių žemė, 2004, no. 2, so it is not independent confirmation. Its account of the 1925 transfer differs from that of the Lithuanian Castles and Manors Association; some dates conflict.
Vilnius: Petro ofsetas, 131 pp. ISBN 9786094207167. The bibliographic record, contents and abstract were read, not the whole book. Includes discussion of the buildings at Biliūnai.
Kaunas: Naujasis lankas, 2008, pp. 105-168. Bibliographic record, summary and contents read. The Biliūnai Manor section is listed on pp. 120-124, but the section itself has not been examined.

The library’s 2016 report lists Virginija Šileikienė’s illustrated 56-page typescript and a CD. The reference has been read, but not the work itself. A text or digital copy may be requested from Raseiniai Library or its Girkalnis branch.
Architectural context article, read in full. Discusses Biliūnai as an example of Baroque manor architecture.
PDF obtained and Biliūnai section read on p. 29 (PDF p. 31). Includes Pranas Lazdauskas’s 1985 photograph, RKIM F 5096. Early dates repeat other accounts. The book entry on p. 64 gives conflicting author names and is not treated as a verified bibliography.
A search excerpt names Biliūnai and Kelmė as examples of estates from the period. General context, not a dedicated study of Biliūnai.
Book announcement found in search. The page could not be opened directly. Publication details were checked against Lituanistika.
Additional article found in search. Repeated announcements are not treated as independent confirmation of historical facts.
Text read. Construction of the masonry palace in 1699 is presented as a conjecture. The text corresponds to the Biliūnai section in the Žemaičių žemė overview of Samogitian manors and towns, so it is not independent confirmation.
Overview, coordinates, gallery and earlier references were reviewed. An editable secondary source; historical dates require checking.
The site uses all six photographs in the category: Liutaurasu’s 2011 restoration view and five photographs by Vilensija from 2018. All are CC BY-SA 3.0, with credits and original links beside the images.
An additional regional manor catalogue found in search. Useful for general context.
Tourism description of the history and interiors, found in search. The directory’s name does not establish that the manor offers rentals.
Bilingual publication found in search, with material on the Biliūnai community and local history. The full document was not analysed.
Full object entry read. First-hand account of inspection and roof and rainwater-system maintenance; work date unspecified.
Inventory F. 1019, series 11, p. 103, read. Entry 1575, F5-565: a 1971 design brief and photographic survey, 28 sheets. Entry 1576, F5-4199: a 1987 historical study, 42 sheets. The files themselves have not been examined.
Inventory F. 1019, series 12, pp. 90-92, entries 1076-1099, read. It lists designs, measured drawings and studies from 1962-1989. Some entries are copies or tracings of the same project, so the 24 entries are not 24 independent studies. The files themselves have not been examined.
Inventory F. 1171, series 2, p. 26, entry 251, AKP-1639, read. G. Kirdeikienė’s restoration project comprises three drawing sheets. Its title refers to the 1960s-1970s; an exact date is not established. The drawings themselves have not been examined.
Read. Describes the earthworks and their suggested connection with Charles XII’s headquarters.
Read. Identifies the hospital at Biliūnai near Girkalnis and the date 9 July 1945.
Biliūnai section read. Measurements and tree condition describe the historical survey, not a current inventory.
Biliūnai section read: the façade date 1551, a reference to a 1597 description and tentative dating to 1699.
Announcement read. Mentions Biliūnai estate cases, but the published extract concerns Raudonė. A lead for further research.
Entry in volume XV, part I, p.153 (PDF p.157), read and visually checked. The 1900 publication places the estate by the Šaltuona, mentions its transfer to the Piłsudski family in 1850 and identifies Draszkowski as its owner at the time. Its land figures do not describe the present property.
Page 246, footnote 23, read. Antanas Gelgaudas retained Biliūnai in 1792; his sons later sold it to meet debts after his death. The author cites ownership and inventory files at the Lithuanian State Historical Archives. The note gives neither the precise sale date nor the buyer; archival originals have not been examined.
Volai (Biliūnai) section, pp.40-41, read. Discusses the military-camp and earlier-manor-site hypotheses. Cites archaeological reports by A. Tautavičius (1961) and J. Balčiūnas (1980); the originals have not been examined. The author calls for further archaeological investigation.
Bibliographic record and contents read. The second edition, Ossolineum, 1992, 410 pages, includes a Billewicze chapter. The catalogue links to a digitised volume, but its full text was not accessible during this research.
Library catalogue entry read. This illustrated 18-page booklet, prepared by Vilma Račkauskienė, covers the manor, earthworks and village community. The booklet itself has not been read; its historical material draws on Raseinių kraštas.
Footnote 29 mentioning Biliūnai and its context were read. It points to pages 175-177 of volume II of Lietuvos architektūros istorija. The article mainly concerns Kelmė; it provides a lead for further research into Biliūnai architecture.
Report and interview with the community chair read. It describes the Old Gardener sculpture installed in 2013 and its connection to the manor park. Useful for community memory; claims about the park’s area and date need separate verification.
Article read. Witness recollections place maternity care at Biliūnai Manor on 9 May 1948. A useful lead for the post-war medical chronology, but not a document establishing when the hospital opened.
Search excerpt read, identifying Biliūnai near Raseiniai among the Bilevičius estates. The full book could not be opened. A lead on family landholdings, not additional evidence for the palace construction date.
Inventory PDF p. 6: item 972, reference F 5-5111, ŽPI, 1989, 16 leaves. The catalogue entry was read, not the file itself. It is a lead for historic planting and condition records.
Biliūnai entry read, PDF p. 4, items 90-95. The 1579/G 11 KP complex was scheduled for heritage assessment documentation following municipal letter(5. 23) R 5-3134 of 5 November 2018. A work plan does not establish that the planned work was completed.
The 27 June 2003 meeting section was read. Completion of the Biliūnai palace roof appears in a funding decision covering three sites. LTL 928 000 is the combined amount, not the allocation to Biliūnai alone. This records approval of funding, not acceptance of completed works.
Relevant passages read. Acta Academiae Artium Vilnensis, vol. 47-48. Compares Biliūnai and Kelmė manor houses; illustration 11 shows A. Norkus’s 1994 photograph of the east façade. The author notes gaps in research on their development and authorship.
Passages mentioning Biliūnai read. Darbai ir dienos, no. 37, pp. 187-194. Biliūnai appears in a discussion of secular Baroque; p. 190 compares its mansard roof with other residences. Architectural context rather than a dedicated manor study.
Page 16 and footnote 60 read. Mentions a Biliūnai distillery connected to a kitchen. Refers to A. A. Vojevodskaitė’s 1987 report through p. 39 of Arnas Zmitra’s 2020 book. The original report is not reproduced. The main case study is Naujaneriai Manor.
Bibliographic record read. Vilnius: Mokslo ir enciklopedijų leidykla, 1994, 592 pages. Other research points to pp. 175-177 for Biliūnai; those pages have not yet been read. The catalogue confirms 1994, correcting the 1987 date given in a Sietuvos footnote.
Search excerpt read. Biliūnai and Kelmė are listed among 18th-century provincial manor houses with mezzanines and parks combining formal and landscape layouts. General architectural context; the full article has not been reviewed.
Full article read. Describes restoration in 1992-1994, granary roof repairs in 1994 and funding in 1995. Names contractors and cites a 1995 heritage bulletin, issue 6. The adjacent account of D. Pikšrienė’s research concerns Skaraitiškė Manor.
Article by a Raseiniai Regional History Museum historian read. It records the confinement of surviving Raseiniai ghetto residents in the manor outbuildings in 1941 before killings near Girkalnis. An important reference for the Nazi occupation period; the precise sequence requires further primary documentation.
Memoir by Juozas Kasperavičius’s daughter read. She recalls visiting her father in the manor hospital and his rescue. Its chronology does not fully match the encyclopaedia entry; exact dates require separate verification.
Museum volunteer list read. It records Jonas Zaica’s birthplace as Biliūnai Manor, Girkalnis district, on 8 March 1896. A reference for people associated with the estate, not a list of its owners.
Community chair’s account read. Covers village infrastructure, the Chestnut Republic and work to preserve the manor’s history. Describes village activities, not services offered by the manor.
The 2014 community event announcement was read. The venue is the village centre beside the manor. Alley measurements and tree counts reflect the account at that time; this is not a current events listing.
Review read. Identifies an Arnas Zmitra contribution on the manor’s historical, cultural and landscape value in the 2018 Rasupis issue. An additional bibliographical lead, distinct from the 2019 second issue.
Description and link to six panoramas checked. Text credited to Dalia Klajumienė, Vadovas po Lietuvos Didžiąją Kunigaikštystę, 2012, p. 30. This catalogue link does not grant permission to reuse the images.
Search excerpts identify a manor description, local legends and a photograph from the park. The PDF could not be opened; article author, title and page remain unverified.
The catalog record and public photograph scan were inspected. Unknown photographer, before 1939, call number IS PAN R0000036605. A research copy was obtained; the website links to the original because InC-EDU does not grant general republication permission.
Individual photograph record read: Liutaurasu, 23 June 2011, 3888 × 2592 pixels, CC BY-SA 3.0. This image is part of the Commons collection already listed; the individual record provides precise date and attribution.
Article and image caption read. The photograph is dated 1985 and credited to Raseiniai Regional History Museum. The family history covers several branches and estates, so not every event concerns this manor. The caption's 1699 construction date should be assessed alongside other sources.
Catalog record verified for the 127-page volume, ISBN 9789955187646; relevant author-uploaded text read, pp. 27-28. It discusses Charles XII's headquarters at Bilevičiai and 1702 cartography. The original maps were not separately inspected.
Author-uploaded text ↗The article on pp. 28-30 was read. It covers the estate’s history, house plan, granary construction and commemorative value, with interior and outbuilding photographs. Notes cite pp. 9 and 11 of Matušakaitė’s 1991 report, so the previous 1992 date needs checking. This 2018 account does not establish present condition.
Publisher’s issue list ↗The public article PDF was obtained. Printed pp. 215-216 (PDF pp. 44-45) were inspected: Biliūnai is identified as inventory site R9 in Raseiniai district, and figure 21 shows the northeastern exterior of the earthworks, photographed by Rasa Banytė-Rowell.
„Žemaičių žemė“ nurodo 1992 m., o A. Zmitros straipsnis „Rasupyje“ (2018) cituoja Kaunas, 1991, p. 9 ir 11. Prašau patikslinti datą, pavadinimą ir saugojimo šifrą. Domina visa tyrimo ataskaita su iliustracijomis, jei ją galima gauti. 2. D. Pikšrienės 1994 m. Kaune parengta paminklosauginė užduotis, susijusi su Biliūnų dvaru. Šią nuorodą radome publikacijoje; tikslus pavadinimas ir saugojimo šifras dar nenustatyti. 3. „Lietuvos architektūros istorija“, II t., Vilnius, 1994, redaktorė Algė Jankevičienė: p. 175-177, kartu su iliustracijomis ir nuorodomis. 4.
A. Zmitros 2018 m. „Rasupio“ straipsnį „Biliūnų dvaro sodybos kultūrinė vertė“, p. 28-30, jau radome, todėl jo kopijos pakartotinai nereikia. Ar yra skaitmeninių kopijų arba nuorodų, kur dokumentus galima peržiūrėti? Jei reikėtų užsakyti kopijavimą, prašau pirmiausia pateikti kainą, apimtį ir terminą. Šiuo laišku mokamų darbų dar neužsakau. Reference ↗Compiled on 5 October 2026 from publicly available sources. This is a starting collection, not a complete bibliography of archival documents. Reviewing a catalogue record or search excerpt does not mean that the full publication was read. Sources are summarised rather than reproduced.
Dating the manor house. Popular accounts mention 1427, 1699 and the 18th century. These may refer to different building phases, but the reviewed sources do not explain the sequence consistently. Here, 1592 refers only to a recorded mention of the estate, not the construction of the present house.
The 1925 transfer. The Lithuanian Castles and Manors Association identifies Jonas Kaminskis as Nikolajus Draškovskis’s son-in-law. Pilys.lt describes a gift to a coachman in return for care. Without a primary document, this website does not choose between those accounts.
Historical accounts and the present day. Popular accounts mention visits by Charles XII and Marshal Macdonald, but primary evidence for them has not been checked for this website. Older descriptions of ownership and restoration do not establish the estate’s position in 2026.
